Shore Capital’s Dr. Clive Black calls for a UK Food Minister

From farm to fork, the UK’s food industry is the largest industrial segment of the nation’s economy.

The industry feeds the nation, uses a lot of land, is central to sustainability and animal welfare agenda and employs millions, so why isn’t there a Food Minister reporting directly to the Prime Minister to seize the opportunity and meet the challenges of today and tomorrow?

There certainly should be in the view of Shore Capital’s Vice Chairman, Dr Clive Black.

In an article for New Food Magazine, Clive argues that as the nation’s largest industry, employer and land user the UK’s food system is vital to future energy, net zero and the nation’s health. As such, it requires joined up thinking from the most important factor of all; government.
