Shore Capital welcomes future leaders from Queen’s University Belfast

Two undergraduate students from Queen’s University Belfast are this week undertaking work experience with Shore Capital, as part of the prestigious City Scholarship Project.

Nathan Kelly and Yaseen Akhonzada, two first-year finance students, were selected from almost 100 applicants to the programme which works to link undergraduate students from Queen’s University Belfast with the city through work experience.

Shore Capital is a founding participant in the programme, which university alumni initiated in 2012 to help the emerging talent pool in Northern Ireland better engage with the world’s leading financial centre. The programme offers places with leading asset managers, investment banks, private equity houses, legal firms and insurance companies.

“Shore Capital is proud to support the City Scholarship Scheme each year, and it is fantastic to have Nathan and Yaseen with us for the week to learn more about capital markets and put their first year of tertiary learning into practice,” said Clive Black PhD, Head of Research at Shore Capital and alumnus of Queen’s University Belfast.

“We’re grateful to have the longstanding support of Shore Capital and two of our distinguished alumni – Clive Black and Eamonn Flanagan – behind the City Scholarship Scheme. This is an unparalleled opportunity for our students to forge connections and consolidate the knowledge they’ve gained throughout their first year,” added Professor Gareth Campbell, Director of Education for Undergraduate Studies, Queen’s Management School.
